Porta Rossa Hotel Firenze, Colbert Collection is rich with stories and layered in craft. It’s widely thought to be the oldest hotel in Italy, and features a stunning 13th-century tower. Throughout, you’ll uncover delightful historical features, including its famous red doorway (which gives the hotel its name), preserved frescos, and stained-glass ceilings. Today, the hotel celebrates the history of the Bartolini family, who once lived here. The property still carries the family’s motto of ‘per non dormire’ (so as not to sleep), and embraces light-hearted rule-bending wherever possible. Plus, stay with us and you’ll also find Florence’s best attractions, including the Arno River, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi Galleries within walking distance.

  • Stay at Italy’s oldest hotel, built in the 1300s
  • Walk to Florence’s major attractions, including Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Galleries
  • Shop at the high-end boutiques on nearby Via de’ Tornabuoni

The hotel’s unique history is on display in its 69 guest rooms and suites. Here, soft-lit architecture combines with a serene atmosphere to create a tranquil base for any stay. Plus, many of our Signature Suites also feature original features, such as beautifully-restored and preserved frescos. We offer a fantastic selection of accommodation options, but the highlight is our Torre Monalda Tower Suite. This 13th-century tower hosts its own suite that offers panoramic views of Florence.

  • Stay in one of our 69 rooms and suites, which blend history, heritage, and contemporary comfort
  • Unwind, surrounded by soft ivory tones, natural materials, and red accents
  • Marvel at the original frescos, which adorn the walls of several rooms
  • Gaze out over Florence when you stay in a room with a city view

The hotel’s restaurant has been developed in collaboration with eight-Michelin-starred chef, Paulo Airaudo. Here you can dine on a mouth-watering selection of dishes, including Fassona beef tartare and spaghetti Nerano-style with raw scampi. Elsewhere, a breakfast buffet is served each morning in the breakfast room. Meanwhile, the Lobby Bar, headed by Tonino, serves signature cocktails with a side of mischief.

During your stay with us, you can enjoy a guided experience that provides you with an insight into the city’s living craft. From guided hotel tours to local vineyard experiences, you will experience an authentic side of Florence that few visitors get to see.
